Tapestry of the World
Tapestry of the World is a celebration of the incredible patterns, colours, textiles and traditions found across the world.
Each piece of glass is individually cut, hand-drawn and hand-painted, building up layers of colour, pattern and detail. I have drawn inspiration from many different nations and cultures, bringing these influences together to create one strong and vibrant artwork.
The piece can also be personalised with your own details, patterns and colours, allowing your own culture, heritage and story to become part of the work.
For me, this artwork is about celebrating what joins us rather than what divides us. It is about our differences, our shared stories and the richness that comes from bringing many cultures together.
A combination of techniques is used throughout the work, including hand drawing, pattern making and reproducing textile designs onto glass. Each individual glass element is fired in the kiln to approximately 800°C, with selected pieces then slumped to create three-dimensional forms. This gives the work depth, movement and a sense of life.
The artwork can be displayed either horizontally or vertically, allowing it to respond to the space in which it is placed.
Tapestry of the World is a strong and vibrant piece, but most importantly, it is an artwork with a big heart — celebrating culture, connection, individuality and the beautiful tapestry we create together.
