Shane Holland is a designer and sculptor producing lights, furniture and sculptural works for the past 30 plus years. His studio practice in metals and mixed materials creates items of elegance, beauty and function from a mixed palette of sources, from industrial, natural, used and new, found and made.
The recent push on sculptural or non-functional pieces is a development in Hollands’ journey of creativity and’ ‘Infinity chains’ and the recent ‘Submarinocurraplane’ investigated his West Cork heritage and links to the Submarine inventor. His work is shown at home and internationally and his recent shows in Paris with the Métiers d’Art set his work alongside leading European master makers. He is based in Co. Meath and lives in Skerries in North Dublin where he builds and rows currachs as a pastime.
